It has been a very challenging circumstance when I first came to the UK in 1985. The only Church of Christ service I could attend to was Battersea, London once a month. I was still learning to drive then. So, my dear husband and I used to leave Kingsbridge before 4am, for the 9am service. He would then drive back home afterwards.
Thank goodness that the church service is nearer nowadays. There is one in Torquay, Cornwall, Plymouth, Exeter, and Taunton.
Having a strong belief and faith always help my spiritual and mental wellbeing. When I first started working for the Trust, the first thing I asked was if I could have days off on Wednesdays and Saturdays for my church service, which is very important to me. I was so grateful to my Manager for giving me the time off. In return, I promised that I would work any day or night. I always give my 100% work ethics and loyalty to my colleagues.
I maybe living in Kingsbridge, but I’m always the first one in the staff room to arrive one hour before the start of handover. Besides, it’s easier to park when I’m early and it’s lovely to have my hot water, banana, and book to read in peace.
