I have been an intern on the Project SEARCH supported internship since September 2023. So far, I have gained work experience in Daily Wards, working as a Logistics Porter, and also in the Linen Room as a Linen Porter. I am just about to start my third internship, working as a General Porter.

I applied for Project SEARCH because I am really keen to gain real life work experience that will hopefully get me a job in the near future. As part of the course, I am also completing a Level 1 Certificate in Employability, practicing my Maths and English, and have been able to receive support to develop my speech and language skills.

I have really enjoyed learning about the different departments and wards in the hospital. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly. I would love it if I was able to find a paid job in Derriford Hospital, in a place where people understand me and my needs.
