Names: Lily, Ada, Jessie, Kate, Edith & Ellen. They are all ex-commercial birds rehomed through BHWT (British Hen Welfare Trust).
Age: Lily and Ada are about 3, the others are around 20 months old. They reach the end of their commercial life at around 17 months and if they are lucky they get a new life.
What is their favourite thing to do? They love eating, they are especially fond of grass! They also like digging holes in the lawn to create dust baths and sunbathing in the summer!
What do they want for Christmas? What they would really like for Christmas is for DEFRA’s Avian Flu restrictions to be lifted so that they can get back out on the grass! The restrictions mean that they currently have to be kept inside or under cover to prevent contact with other possibly infected birds.
However they will still get a Christmas dinner of carrot peelings and sprout trimmings!
